Videoconference consultation

Thanks to the generalization of the broadband connections in Internet, the videoconference systems have quality enough to make possible to see, with sufficient definition, skilled movements such are those of the performing musician.

This allows a doctor or a therapist, from our Institute, to analyze the positions and the movements of a musician who is in his house, perhaps hundreds or thousands of miles far away.

In addition, the technology that is needed for it, at the moment, is reachable for everybody.

It is not necessary to say that this system does not allow to completely replace the actual visit in our center. But it makes easier the contact between our professionals specialized in artists' affections and the artists with medical problems. This technology allows us to:

- Second opinion: musicians who have been diagnosed by other professionals and who wish to know our opinion on their affection or the treatment that has been proposed to them.

- To solve doubts: to give our opinion and directions on which would be, bearing in mind the experience on arts medicine of the professionals in our Institute, the form to cope with a problem (which medical exams to perform, specialists to see, different therapeutic possibilities, risks of each one, etc.).

- Treatment follow-up and treatment modification: in those musicians been treated by professionals of our center we could offer them the possibility of substitute some of the actual controls for virtual controls. This is only possible in some of the affections such as the retraining program for lip problems, the muscular overuse work protocol or the neurorehabilitation program for musician's focal dystonia.

- New problems: when a new affections appear, related or not with the injury that generated the visit and/or the actual treatment, we could evaluated the possibility to solve the problem by videoconference.

IMPORTANT
- Virtual consultation are thought to facilitate the contact between the artists and the professionals of our center but, in no case, they cannot completely replace the actual controls or represent the only relation between the patients and the professionals.
- As happens in the actual controls, the virtual consultation preserves top confidentiality.
- We cannot, in any case, give diagnostics or recommend treatments to musicians that we never have seen previously in our center.
