Introduction

The Institut de Fisiologia i Medicina de l’Art-Terrassa is a pioneering centre in medical attention for stage artists (musicians, dancers, actors, etc.) Doctors and therapists work as a team to help artists recover from their affections in a most effective way. We have been working in this field since 1992. At first, working from the Hospital General de Manresa in Manresa (Barcelona), we created the first specialised unit in a public hospital in Spain. In 1999 we moved that project to the Institut de Fisiologia i Medicina de l'Art, in Terrassa. |

Through our Science and Art Foundation, we try to enhance medical knowledge on stage artists affections. We carry out research, training and communication projects, which have helped us find new solutions to the problems of the artist community. We have also developed new prevention strategies and diagnostic tools.
These are some of the reasons why the Institut is, in its field, a centre of reference in the world. |
